de GEEST, John. Passed away on 23 December 2018 aged 86. John was our family pioneer. At age 20 he grasped the opportunity to emigrate to New Zealand and with brother Albert created an innovative and successful building business in Oamaru. The extended de Geest family owe John a great debt of gratitude for taking the big step and emigrating and leading the way for his mother, father and brothers to follow in his footsteps where they were able to lead successful and happy lives.
