I met John when he was 19 at Epsom Teachers Training College. I had the privilege to watch this young man grow, embrace life, develop an amazing set of teaching and management skills. At the same time he was always out there in his private life nurturing and caring for disadvantaged people.
John also had a larrikin side which was great fun. Always expect the unexpected.
Jan, Johns partner has been a treasure.
All Johns friends knew he was in the best of hands. Thankyou Jan for looking after John so well during his period of illness.

John was an amazing man and did so much good in his life. I cannot imagine anyone could have dealt with illness with the courage and positivity that he showed. He was a wonderful and kind family man and he and Janet always welcomed us into their home, when visiting from the UK. We are sorry not to be there in person. He will be greatly missed around the world and we send our love to our family there, from the Hendersons xxx
