My deepest sympathy to Barbara, the extended family and all Jack's many friends. I cannot put into words the debt of gratitude I and all the Capuchin friars who served at Holy Cross Friary and parish over the past almost 50 years owe Jack (RIP), Barbara and all the extended family for all the love, prayer and supported the gave us so unstintingly. Sandra and I remember walking past the Beresford house on Millbrook Road walking home from work. Jack and Barbara where two people we looked out for.If you are lucky you might be lucky to get to meet one or two real people in your life - well Jack and Barbara were two real people to us. Sadly Sandra and I are sitting in the chemo unit at Rotorua Hospital so we cannot get to Auckland tomorrow. My deepest sympathy Mrs Beresford to you and all the family...Jack was my first rugby coach at Holy Cross School starting back in the mid 1960s, then after school he would cram a group of us into his black English taxi car and take us to Waitemata rugby club and coach our team there as well. Great times and memories. Your kindness and warmth have walked through life with me. It was so nice to know you later in life, reflect on that time together and be able to thankyou. So sorry to hear of Uncle Jack's passing. Our condolences to Barbara and to all the family. He was a man we will never forget. Kind, generous, devoted to his wife and family, hard-working. A real treasure. He will certainly be missed by us all. I still have photos of him playing rugby with all the kids at Calgary Street in 1964 and I remember him teaching me how to lay concrete when he concreted Mum's new garage floor in Pt Chev. He is now at rest after a lifetime of caring for those around him. Bless you Jack.
