From the very early days of premises at the 'Pink Palace' in Oriental Parade, to my telephone conversation to congratulate John and Chloe on bringing 'Dark City - The Cleaner series to Christchurch, I have been lucky enough to experience the combination of warmth, regard, professionalism and passion John brought with him to the table. His death does indeed bring to an end an era defined very much by what he initiated, nurtured, defined and enabled. Go well Barney, you will not be forgotten.

First met Barney at Auckland University, there was a group of us from different faculties and we all got on well, having a great time; they were the best days ever to go to Uni. We all kept in touch over the years and I would try and see Barney when he was living in Wellington. He dragged me into the movie "Beyond Reasonable Doubt to assist with Court scenes. Grant Tilly didn't realise how much mischief court lawyers got up to in Court. Anyhow Barney remained a mate and when we would bump into each other we'd have a 'chinwag'. he was so proud of his marriage to Sarah. Last time I saw Barney was a couple of weeks ago scurrying across Jervois road we gave each other a wave and a smile.
Shalom ,Barney, a great man and friend.
