ALDERSON, John Dalton. A lifelong cricket purist who was run out on November 6 2022 at his Karaka farm after a robust innings of 93. Highlights included a sparkling 23-year partnership with the late Gloria, which now sees sons Andrew and Scott and daughters-in-law Lynley and Michelle arrive at the crease with grandchildren Max, Eliza, Evan, Jack and Kate further down the order. John was a talented sportsman who represented Canterbury in first-class cricket before dedicating himself to running the family brickyard in Christchurch. He moved to milk a herd of Jerseys in Auckland from 1965. John returns to life's pavilion as a man of unimpeachable integrity who has bequeathed a noble legacy. A memorial service will be held at his farm on Thursday, November 17. Play starts at 2pm.
