Jack Adam was one of my teachers over a four year period, 1957 – 1960, Cambridge High School. He was my form teacher during my Third Form Year and as well, my Geography Teacher. Jack Adam was one of those teachers that stood out for me as being committed and thorough with his job. His expectations were high but always fair and reasonable. He inspired in me an interest in overseas travel with his own travel stories that he built into his geography lessons. He was a dedicated tennis coach and inspired and encouraged many of our good players. During military training at school, there was no nonsense and the job was done. I went on to have a successful career as a teacher and always remember Jack as a great role model. My sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to his family. R.I.P Jack Adam

Mr Adam was our Headmaster at Massey High when I was there in the mid-70's. I had the privilege of meeting him at a community event a few years ago..... he said 'call me Jack'... I said I can't... you will forever be Mr Adam..... a great headmaster..... thank you Mr Adam.

Jack, authority figures like headmasters can be a bit scary to most students, but those of us who knew you better really appreciated your sharp wit and down to earth character. Massey High was lucky to have you as its founding headmaster.
Yours and Heather's personal values like integrity, hard work and the love of a laugh obviously live on in the great bunch of kids that you've had, and it's a privilege to know them all.
The world's lost a great leader.

Sorry I couldn't be there for your send-off

A man dedicated to his profession and proud of his school. As a pupil in the early 1980s I didn't always understand or appreciate what his aims for us were. Today I am proud that MHS was my school. Thanks for instilling that pride, Jack.

To Jacks family I send my condolences as Jack was such a big part of their lives. I played cards with him every Wednesday and Thursday for years and you always knew when Jack was there by his boisterous and naughty laughter. Cards wont be the same without him there. Love you Jack

As a former pupil of Massey High School and a past president of the Massey Tennis Club ( Jack was Patron) I met jack several times over the first 30 years of my life and I always felt that I was learning something about him. Jack made a difference and influenced so many lives. I met jack for the last time at the 40th Anniversary of the Massey Tennis Club Heather was seriously ill but he wanted to know what I had been up to since I left school. I have been very fortunate to know Jack Adam. RIP Jack Seek the Heights.

We fondly remember Jack, our 4th form geography teacher at Cambridge High in the 1960's and among other duties, rugby coach of our Pembroke House team. Always dapper, almost always cheerful and with a cheeky wit. Many thanks, Wayne, Doug and Kevin

Jack you gave me my first teaching job in Auckland so I could leave Christchurch in 1983 and then again in 1987. You are a legend in my eyes and the eyes of so many Massey past pupils and the many staff who live and lived in the area. I have lived in Massey for 30 years and this will always be my local school although I don't teach there any longer. I will always remember your stern manner and steely determination for every kid to do their best. Farewell my old friend, Graham Beaumont.
