Johan MORREAU Obituary

We are deeply saddened hearing of Johans passing. He was a good, generous and kind human being. Our sincere wishes to all of Johan´s family. Personal gratefulness for his presentation at my Rotary Conference 7 years ago. The first 1000 days has resonated with us all and a living testament of good parenting. My sympathies to Johan´s family, friends and colleagues. It was such a pleasure working with Johan. He could always be relied upon, whether it was an opinion on a patient or a management issue, he used his intellect and his heart to do the right thing putting either the patient or the community first. He was a doctor´s doctor in that regard and for that I held him in the highest regard like so many of the physicians. So sad to hear he has passed with less retirement than he deserved.

So sad to read of Johans passing.
I have known him as a client and a patient for over 30 years.
"Only the good die young" so sad that a great person like Johan has passed before his time.

Was such a privilege to work with Johan

Condolences to the Morreau whanau. We loved and admired him. First met in 1990 as our daughter Sophia's pediatrician. He noticed they shared the same birthday. Amazing and beautiful man. So deeply sorry to hear of his passing. Arohanui, kia kaha. From the Gage whanau.

Sincere deep condolences to the family for the passing of Dr. Johan Morreau. I have known Johan since my time working as a Junior Medical Officer in Rotorua 35 years ago. As a International Medical Graduate I had to pass the NZ Registration Exam in order to practice Medicine in NZ. At that time Johan was my Intern Supervisor and he has guided and mentored me for passing that exam, which was very difficult to pass. I am very indebted to him for my medical career in NZ for over 30 years. Johan was a very generous and compassionate man for everyone who needs help and he will be sorely missed by all of us.

My deepest condolences to Johan's whanau - I worked alongside Johan for many years as a fellow DHB Chief Medical Officer and came to know him as a friend and highly valued colleague and confidant.
Johan was not only hugely respected by his colleagues, but seen as a man of tremendous wisdom, compassion, and vision - he always wanted to find solutions and ways forward.

It's with great sadness that I'm writing this having had the privilege of working with Johan at Rotorua Hospital from the time he came to work in Rotorua till we both retired. His supportive, skilled knowledge offered in the loveliest way cannot be forgotten. Thanks Johan especially for the help in those emergency situations and beyond.

My heartfelt condolence to Johan's family.

Johan was a kind and compassionate doctor, deeply respected at Rotorua Hospital´s Children's Unit. He truly listened-to staff, patients, and whanau-leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. He was the first doctor who believed in me, and I will always be grateful. Working with him was a true privilege.

In memory of a good man. He was fair, considerate and wise.
His leadership of the New Zealand Viet Nam Health Trust was exceptional.
He will be missed.

Our heartfelt condolences to Johan and Karen, children and grandchildren. Johan was the most lovely of men always thoughtful and generous company. He will be greatly missed by his whanau and the wider community. His enduring legacy is the First Thousand Days and the difference he made to so many families including ours.

My heart goes out to Johan's family. I came to know him through his national leadership in health care. He was an exceptionally thoughtful CMO and paediatrician. I always found Johan wise, warm and good company. Happy memories also of our time on the RACP Board, including a wonderful day walking and talking in the Freycinet National Park.

So sad to hear of Johan Morreaus passing. Such a gentle, kind, caring man who was my sons Paediatrician for those earlier years of his life. He gave Jack the best care which is now shining through how our boy is today. Always remembered never forgotten Condolences to the family.

Merian and I are thinking of you all at this time. Johan was a friend, colleague and mentor and taught me a lot about caring - for children and for others. We shared a passion for medical learning and teaching. Medical practice in Rotorua benefited greatly from Johan being part of it. We will fondly remember him. Tony and Merian Townsend.

I'm very sorry to hear of Johan's passing. I witnessed his caring and calm nature when he was my daughter's pediatrician. We felt seen and understood by him, and he provided excellent care with outstanding communication. We were very sorry when he retired, and I'm truly sad I can't attend on Wednesday to pay my respects.

So so sad to hear of Johan's passing. I worked as a Midwife at Rotorua Hospital and had the privilege of knowing him as a wonderful Doctor and teacher. Taken far too soon.
