Joe MATTHEWS Obituary
MATTHEWS, Joe. Our beloved Joe passed away peacefully in his 89th year on 14 November 2022 at Jane Mander Retirement Village, Whangarei. Much loved husband of Hazel, and the late Jean; adored father of Glennis, Les, Jackie and the late Correen; treasured Granddad of Janna and Andrew; Alexander, Barnaby and Cameron; Jess, Amy and Sam; and great Grandad of Zara and Campbell; Luca; and Trieste. Fondly remembered for his sharp mind, sense of humour and hearty laugh. Joe's Celebration of Life will be held in the Chapel of Morris and Morris 17 Western Hills Drive Whangarei on Saturday 26th November 2022 at 1:30pm.

Although I've lost touch, to me as a small boy, Joe and Jean were simply the most wonderful people in the world. I first met Joe when he was finishing his home on the Puketona road, in Paihia in 1969. A larger than life character, who took the time to show me a thing or two about tractors, who inspired in me a strong work ethic and the person who I might aspire to be, for which I am most greatful. God bless you Joe and dear Jean, on the next part of your wonderful journey and thank you..
