December 28, 1935 - February 9, 2025 William H. Bassett passed away on February 9, 2025, at the age of 89. He died peacefully at home in Woodland Hills. A veteran actor of theater, film, television, and voice, William appeared in more than 100 films and TV programs throughout his career which spanned over five decades.
William was deeply loved by his family, friends, and caregivers. Eccentric, witty, and charming, he was cherished most of all for his genuine kindness and compassionate heart. He was a man of varied skills and talents, a life-long learner, a bibliophile, a carpenter, a gardening enthusiast, a Buddhist, and a philanthropist, with a passion for philosophy, nature, and activism.
William is survived by his daughters, Wendy Crislip, and Katherine Bassett; grandchildren Ashley, Caitlyn, and Eden; great-grandchildren Harper, Scottie, and Callum; and his dog, Coco. A private service was held earlier in the year. Memorial donations may be made to Tree People of Los Angeles, an organization where William was a devoted volunteer and supporter.
