Joan GILLIES Obituary

Because I no longer live in Wellington I was not aware of lady Joan´s passing. She was my great aunt and a positive force to be reckoned with. She will be a great loss and be missed by many. She leaves a legacy of continuous work for the disabled the effect of which will be felt by many. With love Alwynne Macdonald

Joan was a life long friend of the late Dudley and Audrey Petrie, and therefore my family who were drawn in to knowing Joan over many years.
A complex, very busy woman who loved to know all about you, who loved to throw celebratory parties while being an avid traveller who kept in touch with her late husband´s friends and colleagues in America . Her extraordinary memory meant a flow of birthday cards was a regular happening to people all over the world. Sadly missed.

A warm hearted smart woman, who was always deeply interested in people and their lives. Generous and fun. I greatly respected her energy and her values.
