Jill EVANS Obituary

I have been thinking of Jilly over the past few years and been trying to reach her. I was so sad to eventually learn of her passing and would have love to say a final farewell to her. My dearest and long time friend since we were kids in Astley Avenue chilling out with our great bikie mates. Its strange now i know she is gone that i miss her more. Jill, you will be sorely missed across the teacher community. From the students whose lives you enriched through your amazing teaching strategies, the resourcing and the aroha you poured into each and every student; to the teachers you mentored, supported and encouraged. You are the definition of a true educational hero. I was so sad to hear about your passing and send thoughts to your family. You hold fond memories in my heart from my time at Mayfield. You will be so missed, yet always remembered as one of the greats xx

So sorry to hear of your loss , Hilary , Gordon and David . Jill was a hoot and will be sorely missed . Thinking of you guys at this time , it´s hard eh?

We, still a good group of staff members at Mayfield Primary School, Auckland, had the privilege of knowing and working with Jill Evans. Our hearts are heavy with the news of the loss of our dear friend and colleague. Jill Evan, a true educator, who
epitomised the words that education expresses about "the child at the
centre of learning," who demonstrated the meaning of aroha for the
families and who brightened so many lives.
We grieve in respect and memory of Mayfield's best friend forever.
Rest in peace Jill.

I am so sad at the passing of Jill. I had the pleasure to teach with her at Fairburn School. What an amazing teacher. So much knowledge and love for these sometimes challenging tamariki. She will never be forgotten at Fairburn as continuing in her memory is Jill's Picture Dictation and Jill's News and Views. The format still used extensively throughout the school. We loved listening to her tales of her beloved family. She was a wonderful lady, wife, mother and nana and loved her family above all else. She will be missed. XXXXX
