Every once in a while, the world is graced with an extraordinary person and Jerome was one of them.
There was never a dull moment around him and some of my fondest school memories involve Jerome.

Dear family and friends of Jerome, In the last few months Jerome became my precious friend. We walked my dog, ate soup in my garage, and talked about horses, his travels, and music. We talked about God and poetry. We went to the Art Gallery and he told me epic stories about places and his memories. He repeatedly told me how much he loved his family, especially his Mum. I learnt about his Mum being musical and how his father recently had said, "I don't understand you, but I love you.' That had really meant a lot to him, so much that he repeated it smiling at the goodness of it. He spoke about his aunt, his cousins, his brothers,all his family and friends with such deep love. I wish I could sit with him again and watch his sparkly eyes light up with love. I am so sad, and I will always carry his memory in my heart. I will never dance at Five Rhythms without praying for him and the people he loved. He talked about a teacher who encouraged him. He gave me back a sense of wonder for the world and the beauty of humanity. He made me think about bread, kindness and the beauty of wood. He made me an artwork. On the back it says, Totara says "I AM HERE." My heart is broken. I will try and smooth the edges to softness because his beautiful soul deserves to be remembered with gentleness and love.

I've been sitting here for a while wondering what to say. What can one say for such a sad loss? I'm so sorry Deana and family. As a mum I think losing your kids before you is one of your worst fears. I remember Jerome being full of beans as a wee feller. And what lovely messages left here in testament to what a nice man he turned out to be. I am so very sorry. x

Sending heartfelt wishes to Jerome's family and circle of friends.
Jerome was part of the Auckland Sunday community dance I run. It was always so lovely to have him there in the group - shining, connected, playful and authentic. He connected deeply with many people in the group and will be very missed. Yesterday we had a photo of Jerome at the dance and those that knew him danced to honour him as the beautiful man who had been part of our group.

I am heartbroken to hear of Jerome's passing. We had a cosmic connection back in 2019, I made him mixes and he would bring me drawings, essential oils, and his sourdough bread. While it didn't last, we remained friends but lost touch after he left social media. He emailed me out of the blue in January, and we were emailing back and forth all year :(. Rest easy sweet Pisces prince - your bright spirit will be missed by many. Sending love and healing energy to his family and friends in this difficult time.
