Jens LARSEN Obituary

LARSEN, Jens. 12 February 1928 - 10 June 2017. Passed away peacefully aged 89 years. Loved, (Far), father and father-in-law of Paul and Marion, Bestafar of Ellen and former loved and respected husband of Colleen Larsen. Jens was a special companion to Doris. He was also a dear extended family friend to Lois and the late Gerard Overwater, Alex and Ashton Overwater. A special man originating from Denmark post WWII; Jens never forgot his special memories and love for his mother and seven sisters. The hardships he left behind gave him a strong and longstanding appreciation of the life and family he built in New Zealand. Generous and always proud and pleased with the achievements of his family. Perhaps they are not stars in the Sky But rather openings Where our loved ones shine down To let us know they are happy. Rest in Peace, Far. A service of remembrance will be held at the Salvation Army Church 87 Clevedon Road Papakura on Friday 16 June 2017 at 2.30 pm. In lieu of flowers and in Memory of Jens, please make a donation to the Salvation Army P O Box 272 1344 Papakura 2244. All communications to (09) 296-8185. Martin Williams Funeral Directors FDANZ

I knew Jens for eight years while he was a companion for my mother, Doris. He told me some fascinating stories about Denmark and farming. I miss his presence, humour and help.

Far's infectious grin and enthusiasm will always be wonderful memories.I see him striding along in his gumboots, behind the cows.
I must have been a challenge for him....a little foster daughter who didn't know how to be in a family.
Be in Peace.
With love, Rowena MacGill.

I knew him such a short while, as a fellow resident at Eastcliffe, and I thank him for his quiet conversation, humour, and making me feel welcome. Jens, you have so earned your rest. God bless and keep you. May you continue to live, love, learn and laugh in everlasting peace, Amen. Annette Moody
