Jennifer SANDSTAD Obituary

SANDSTAD, Jennifer Doris (née Ross). 5 May 1945 - 6 May 2025 Aged 80. Died peacefully at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital surrounded by family. Formerly of Willoughby, previously Enmore, Cremorne and Remuera, Auckland. Beloved and devoted mum of Sarah and Benjamin, precious Granny Jenny of Juliette and Max, fond mother-in-law of Richard, loved wife of Ronald Olaf (deceased), cherished sister of Margaret and John, beloved daughter of the late Ernest and Isabella, kind and gentle friend and nurse. RN (RPA) Jenny McLeod Ross. Jenny trained and nursed at RPA, studied midwifery in Aberdeen, Scotland, then later qualified as a primary school teacher at Auckland Teachers College, returning to Australia and nursing at Royal North Shore, Evesham, Northside Clinic and Gladesville Hospital, before devoting her retirement to her family, including visiting Ben throughout Asia, and enjoying fine literature, knitting, crosswords and other pleasures. A funeral will be held at St James Church, King Street, Sydney, on Thursday 15 May 2025 at 10.30am. All are welcome to attend. Sarah and Ben would like to thank the many kind nursing and medical staff who cared for Mum in recent years, especially at RPA, BUPA Willoughby and Sydney Retina and Norwest Eye Clinics. "May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." "Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon her."

Dear Sarah and Ben, I was deeply saddened to read of Jenny's passing. I have missed our quarterly phone conversations the last 18 months or so, hearing how you were both doing and reminiscing of our forty year friendship from ATC days. I will miss her. May she be at peace now.
