I really valued the friendship I had with Jeanette in our middle years at school. I remember then the problem she had with her nails, never realising that this would be the beginning signs of the illness that she faced every year as she got older. She was fun loving, but also serious about work; occasionally we would study for tests together in the weekends, something that amazes me now. She had a good brain and worked hard, and her wonderful contributions to medical science will be valued for many years.

We shared a joke when Jeanette was learning how to drive her new power wheelchair. She named it MC ( Magic Carpet ) because it was her secret transport to places beyond her recent experience. She was determined to drive it to the beach as her first goal and of course she succeeded. Now I imagine her on a different type of Magic Carpet, relishing the challenge of exploring the great beyond. Fly free.

Hullo Eunice and Ernest. My condolences in the passing of Jeanette. I would love to have met her. I taught Jeanette when she was a five year old at St Cuthbert's College in Auckland. Jeanette was a bright faced little girl who took her school work seriously. I have often wondered where my little girls are and what careers they have taken. I would very much like to be in touch with you Eunice.
