Janet CLEWS Obituary

CLEWS, Janet Mary (nee Binns). CNZM, QSO, NZ Suffrage Medal, JP, died 29 April 2025 in her 92nd year. A remarkable woman and stalwart of West Auckland has left us. Wife and widow of Ernie. Loved mother of Geoff, David and Andrew. Loved and respected mother-in-law of Rosalind, Moira, and Eleni. Cherished Nana of Simon and Kathryn, Stephanie and Luke, Alexandra and Chris, Rebecca and William and Christopher, and a special step- grandparent to James and Rebecca Coote, Olivia Coote and Ricardo Rios. Beloved Nan Nan (and shameless pusher of gingerbread men) to her nine great grandchildren - Oliver, Madison, Charlotte, Theodore, Paco, Oscar, Louis, Rosie and Logan. A celebration of Janet's life and acomplishments will be held at the Waitakere Council Chambers, 6 Henderson Valley Road, Henderson, at 1pm Friday 9 May 2025 with a private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate generously in Janet's name to the Glen Eden Playhouse Theatre. For more than 60 years her family shared Janet with the West as a politician, mentor, company director, trustee, adviser and JP. She is now proof-reading the minutes of her first celestial Council meeting, while enjoying a very stiff G&T.

My cousin Janet was a remarkable woman who accomplished so much in her lifetime. I was so pleased to hear of all her achievements over the years. The close family will be really proud of what she has achieved, especially in the West Auckland area. My deepest condolences to all the family.
