Jan McKENZIE Obituary

McKENZIE, Jan Lynette. After a valiant battle with cancer, Jan passed away on Monday the 21st of October 2024, at home surrounded by her family and dogs on a sunny Paekakariki afternoon. Loved daughter of Joy and the late Robin, and sister of Alistair, Andrew, and David. Sorely missed mother, father, and best friend of Simon and Angela and general all round awesome person. Beloved wife of the late Trevor. A service to celebrate her life will be held at Old St Pauls, 34 Mulgrave Street, Wellington on Thursday the 31st of October at 2pm. Jan wanted this to be a day of celebration, and as such we welcome wearing bright colours in her honour. In keeping with her wishes, we invite you to bring a photograph of you and Jan, or a letter to her. These will be placed in a special box and cremated with her, so she can always carry her people with her. A special thanks to the wonderful care of Mary Potter Hospice and the care of the Kapiti district nurses. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Jan's memory to either Wellington Free Ambulance (wfa.org.nz) or Mary Potter Hospice (marypotter.org.nz) would be appreciated. All communications can be made on Jan's tribute page at tributes.co.nz, where livestream details are also available. Ninness Funeral Home Porirua (04) 237-4174 www.ninness.co.nz

Just watched Jan's funeral service live, I worked for her Dad, and Jan and I were great mates, and gave each other stick when ever the opportunity arose.
Loved her like a sister, Linda and I are heart-broken. Love to Joy and the boys.

Oh Jan, you gave so much even while dealing with so much. Thank you for your dedication to enabling and empowering women on the road. I hope you find the equivalent to your wonderful motorhome over there and can explore the other side's mountains in the way you loved here. You are missed.

Many many memories of the fun Jan and I had. At school, but later, doing a road trip round the north island, packing "treat your own back" books. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Love to all the family. Christine Beattie, nee Betteridge.
