Sorry to just learn of Jim's passing. He was a good friend and great work colleague in the 1960's at BNZ Wellington South. I often thought about him even though he was at the other end of the North Island. Please accept my deepest sympathy to all Jim's family and friends.

I met Jim regularly at Sacred Heart College Old Boys' dinners. Great company and a gentleman in every sense of the word. His passing leaves a hole in the SHC community. Godspeed Jim.

Dear Christine and Family it has been an honour to have Jim in our lives for so many years. His intelligence and wit shone through and he was so proud of you and his girls. You could hear Jim coming before you saw him with his big, lovely voice and his wonderful speeches were legendary. We will all miss his presence and we hold his memory dear in our hearts. All our love, Mary, Tony, Mark, David, Nic and Sarah xxx

We share the sorrow of the loss of your father.
Those of us who have worked with you know the high esteem in which you hold your father and the love you have for him.
Your family will mourn his loss, but will have many happy memories of times spent together. His was obviously a life well lived.
Sincere condolences from all at the EMA.

The Mullane and Donovan families enjoyed close links following the emigration from Ireland of Elsie (Jim´s mother) and my father (John) along with their brothers Bill and Matt. While Matt returned home the others founded dynasties here in NZ. The Mullane boys were regular visitors at our home in Bayswater while they boarded at Sacred Heart College. While we drifted apart when we had our own families the times we met up were always enjoyed. I am sorry that none of the Donovan boys will be present at the funeral, Kevin having died some years ago, Nick presently in Australia and myself in Wellington, I do extend my condolences to the family and will be thinking of Jim tomorrow. In particular, I recall his record breaking efforts on the athletic track while at college, something I was able to emulate in a slightly more modest way while at Takapuna Grammar School. There must have been something in those Irish genes. From Jim´s cousin - John Donovan.
