James and I with 2CV

Kathryn Gibson

June 5, 2020

Remembering James, his gentle, kind and generous soul. Fond memories of him sharing with me his love and knowledge of 2CV and an exciting trip around the block. He had a huge knowledge of the internal workings of the engine and could have built one from the parts catalogue. My only regret is that I didn't have a chance to know you better James, to visit your hanger and workshop and see your plane. Fly high my friend amongst blue skies and green pastures.

James Lobet was a dear friend of mine for many years. James was always involved with aeroplanes, but was also a very talented cook.I spent quite a lot of time with him in my home town of Orange N.S.W. James and his brother William were very active in the resistance in WW2 in their own country France. James had a great talent for aircraft design and he and his brother William as teenagers developed one of the very first amateur built and designed aircraft in Europe. The "Ganagobie" he called it meaning I believe "Little fish" ! had a unique diamond shape fuselage and flew well on a 1/2 VW engine. It was his lifes dream to get the Ganagobie on the world amateur built aviation stage.James was a very kind honest man and knew his maker.Lets salute James Lobet his life and his talents.
