James FERGUSSON Obituary

Jim was a wonderful friend over the years from our shared Glenfield College days, and also when I lived in his home as a flatmate at a time when I needed accommodation. So good-natured, generous, kind. He gave of himself simply with a genuine desire to help and support. A devoted teacher, he loved his job, and put a lot of heart into his tennis coaching, often giving freely of his time. Principled, non judgemental, and compassionate. I will always remember him with great affection, and with gratitude.

Jim was family and friend , mentor and supporter to the Rea family of Milford and especially to Simon Rea as his tennis career developed. Thank you Jim for all you did.

I owe my tennis serve to Mr Fergusson. And my rendition of Freddie the rain cloud in my School Cert exam in 1979. Thank you Mr F, my condolences to your family. Fondly remembered. Karen Simmons (nee O´Reilly)

A much loved teacher from Glenfield College. He taught me in the 1970's. I have fond memories of those days. I trust that the family will take comfort in the fact that so many of us from those days remember "Fergie" with affection.

I have many fond memories of Jim during our tennis playing days, both overseas and in NZ. We attended Auckland Teachers´ Training College at the same time and were both part of many Auckland tennis teams. Jim was great fun throughout our playing days - he will be missed by many of us!
