Jim Broadbent a valued and respected friend from Kerikeri where we both grew up and a colleague he has been a friend since childhood and supported me in real estate in Auckland when our paths crossed. Truly a lovely genuine person who will be sadly missed by all of us who experienced his lovely nature. A very loyal person. Flying free at last dear friend.

Thinking of all our Kiwi family at this time of sadness. Love to all from Mike and Glenyse and our two kids Chris and Kate and their families here in West Australia.
We caught up with Jim, on and off, over the years from when my Dad, Dick turned up at his brothers farm in TeKuiti back in 1963 and us two cousins, John and Mike as teenagers, landed back in New Zealand.
Jim I remember as always full of life, always interesting and interested in things.
You guys are going to miss him. A big hug from all of us and we will be there with you all on Saturday too. XXXXX Mike and Glenyse

Well Jim you have finally brought in the Open Home signs and you don't have to have nay more of those tricky CMA's. Buddy we had the best days of real estate when a spade wads a spade, not that we would use one. It is with a heavy heart that I wish you farewell but coming up to see you in January was worth the effort. It was a great idea and party and I'm sorry but I wont be there on Saturday but I'm sure that you will have a great send off. Finally it was a fitting honour for you to be induced into the B&T Hall of fame, I might have to say something about you when we have the 100 years celebration in 1923. I'll keep you in mind.. Cheers Buddy Jeff Cate

Jim your memory will live on within the breed of the German Shorthaired Pointers. Your knowledge was amazing, truly a huge loss. Sincere condolences to the family. Jim RIP and may you be reunited with all your four legged friends that have gone before you. Linda and Clive Bowman

My dear Jim,
You were one of the rare gentlemen remaining on Earth.
One who's always been thankful for life, nature, landscapes, one who's been inspiring others, and caring for others.
I'll always think of you, your long black coffees & toasts at lunchtime at Switch's café, everyday with a new little joke to cheer up my day when I was nothing else than just a "little backpacker" in your beautiful country.
I am so happy my long letter and my Belgian treats reached you recently. And I'll never forget your kind words afterwards.
You'll always been glowing too, in my thoughts and heart.
Take care from where you are now, and remember that lots of people care about you here, and will think about you forever.
Like we say in Belgium (French), "bisous", hugs, thank you for all the generosity of mind you've always had for me.
Jenn.

Oh Jim, I remember with great joy my childhood when I visited the farm in te kuiti, and you taught me to shoot with a rifle. I remember my last days in NZ at your mum and dads in Keri Keri before we left for Canada. Your mum wrote to me all these years and updated us with all the family news. I remember in 1976, visiting you and Sharron. You wired the electric fence to the clothes line, and shocked Sharron as she hung out the clothes. Such a joker . I remember in 1993, you came to meet my sister, Lindsay and I at Auckland airport, while we waited 6 hours for our flight to Brisbane to visit our dad, your uncle Peter. You were so kind. You said a mate and you would be sailing around the world soon. Alas, life gets in the way sometimes. I hoped you would come see us all one day. Thank you to all the Broadbents for their kindness in 2018 when I brought Daryl, my daughter, Lindsay and my grand boys, Matti and Markus . Such a wonderful visit and catch up. May you be reunited with your parents, my beloved God Parents, Joan and Tom, give them a big hug from us all in Canada. Celebrate the wonderful life you had. Until we meet again, rest easy mate. Joan, Daryl, Lindsay, Cathy, Mattias, Markus.
