I remember Captain Aldiss from a cruise I took from Auckland as a 15 year old on the Kuala Lumpur in about 1966 during the school holidays.
The school kids were on bunks in the forward hold with regular cruise passengers in the rest of the ship. We thought Captain Aldiss was a really great guy . I remember him relaxing cross legged on Anse Vata beach Noumea with a straw hat on and I think a pipe . A kind of seafaring Robinson Crusoe . We thought that was pretty "cool".

A lovely gentleman. My husband and I sailed with Captain Aldiss in the seventies. Our sympathy goes to his wife and family.

A lovely picture of Ben & Jasons' wife Claire on one of our evenings out.

My husband & I spent many happy times with Ben & his lovely wife Carmelita when they were in England visiting his son Jason. He was a special man & he will be sadly missed by all who knew him

He will live on in our hearts & the memories of those happy times.
