My name is Peter den Ouden, my mother was Hendrika Zegers, sister of Laurens. I wish to express my condolences to Jean-Benoit and Francois-Pascal. I met your parents once when they visited us in the Netherlands, I guess about 1958. My wife and I visited New Zealand twice, in 2003 and 2008. I wished we could have made contact then, but I only took an interest to genealogy 3 yeers ago. I am pleased to see that Jaqueline was loved by everybody so much.

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your dear mother. I knew her through the Alliance Francaise. However, I knew better your late father who was my French teacher at Selwyn College for 5 years in the 1970s. He had a huge positive impact on my life and it is sad that I never really had the chance to tell him that - I did tell Mrs Zegers however. I did not know that Mrs Zegers was in a home until recently when I had the pleasure of meeting your friend Nick who told me.
It is hard to lose both parents and my thoughts are with you. I trust that you will be comforted by the many wonderful memories you will have of her. I love the warm way you wrote about her in the death notice. She was always such a vibrant person and I remember your father telling us in class stories about how they met and it always sounded so romantic! So that actually, when I finally did meet her, I felt that I already knew her.
