RIP. I´m really sorry to hear about the passing of Jacqui. It was much to early and many thoughts to her family in this undoubtedly most difficult of time.
Jacqui stayed here at Velskov for a while and we went on many forest walks together. She was absolutely amazing with her botanical knowledge of native forests and she shared it so beautifully. I will miss her deeply, and so will everyone else that ever had the gift of knowing Jacqui.
This picture is from one of our walks together back in March 2020. Jacqui wearing her signature black glove while teaching me how to identify native plants.
Much love, Mamakan

I knew Jacqui as @jacqui-nz, where she is a legend on iNaturalist NZ. With consistent warmth and good humour, and with an exceptional eye for nature, she recorded 21,212 observations of 2,295 species, in just 12 years, and made 1,242 species identifications for other people. That's an extraordinary contribution to our knowledge of NZ nature, and she's one of the top 10 observers on iNaturalist NZ. That's a marvellous legacy to leave behind. I've added her last photo on iNaturalist NZ, a wild garden pansy in flower, which she uploaded on 25 September (CC-BY Jacqui Geux). She was contributing knowledge about NZ nature right to the end, upset that she couldn't go far anymore and that her camera was getting too heavy to lift. We're all so sorry to hear that she had to leave us so soon. Our warmest hugs and sincerest sympathies go out to her family. Jacqui will be missed but never forgotten.
