Its says in the Good Book, "he who honours me I will honour..."
Jack was a good man.....a man who was true to himself and others. He had insight into what life was really all about and he lived by a personal code of integrity.
Jack was my track and field coach in the 1990's...he was honest when asked the hard questions, supportive when required and a task master all the time...and for that I salute you sir. You are a rare breed Jack.
Jack once wrote me a Christmas card which stated that "persistence and persistence alone is the solution to greatness..."
Words I still remember to this day, thirty years after being his student.
A life well spent Jack, God speed and God bless.
SEE YOU AT THE TOP.
Much love,
Paul T Marsh

Jack was always a great colleage and partner back in his Nike and AllBlacks days. I really appreciated his candor, insights and friendly approach .
As a family we will always value the time Jack spent with James and his coaching on how to cope with injury and competition in the gymnastics world . I still quote Jack and will always remember his timely and caring advice . Thank you Jack. Rob Hennin

Jack, as a younger member of us older Calliope runners, I remember your emergence as one who cared for junior runners. You did not like older members drinking in front of younger ones at club socials and I always held you in high respect for this. As a fellow coach of high school runners, I know the enjoyment you would have experienced in watching young runners improve. As your profile reached a high level, you were always friendly and not too bigheaded like so many other coaches. I'm glad I read your book and thanks for mentioning all those Calliope runners.
Condolences to your family.
