Ingrid was a strong, honest woman with a huge heart, unbelievable energy and a roaring laugh. Her passion for her family, friends and animals as well as the things she loved doing remains unquestioned. Ingrid was one of those rare people who are unashamedly themselves, unafraid to speak uncomfortable truths while also being encouraging and kind.
Her being a friend of our family, I have known her for basically all my life, and she has always been an inspiration to me. I'm so glad we were able to spend time together last year on our holiday in France, sharing good food, wine and stories with Ross, my brother Tane and my parents. Her enjoyment and energy was contagious and I was truly looking forward to the next time we would see each other. I cannot believe she is gone, that we will never share a laugh or have a heated discussion about life again. But I am comforted by the thought that together with Ross and her family, she had created a life she loved, a life that was cut short, but intensely lived. A fighter with a warm heart and an adventurous spirit, her fire will burn on in the many people she touched.
Danke, Ingrid.
Ka Kite.
Love from all of us to Ross, Tadgh, Ciannait, Fionn and Rosie.

Ingrid and I became friends in 1971, not long after her arrival with family to Monaghan. We lost our teenage years due to her moving school etc...As we both married kiwis, we both ended up in nz.... from 1999 our relationship boomed, blossomed and continued ... many a tough road we have travelled together, and we became stronger and closer because of. I love Ross Ciannait Tadhg and Fionn dearly. My home in monaghan was theirs and vice versa.. and will continue to be.
Speaking at the service yesterday, it was great to be able to give a flavour of the mad cap, deeply loyal, witty, sensitive intelligent and utter indefatigable girl, woman, mother wife and friend. I am devastated by her death, and now needing to dig deep, in order to reconcile the impact and consequences of her demise. We will do her proud in April, when we will have a service in monaghan for her, with burial of her ashes with Elmo and David to follow. Lord rest her soul. Ni bheidh a leitheid aris ann....choiche...we will never see the likes of her sgsin... EVER

Today I wanted to be with you all in person, sadly due to a family emergency I am writing this instead, so I may share my sincerest condolences and deepest sympathy to Ross, Tadhg, Ciannait, Fionn and Ingrid's sister Rosemary.
We both shared the love of the Irish Connemara pony of her homeland, and worked hard together on CPSNZ committee to help promote the breed here in NZ. RIP Ingrid may your spirit run free with those whom you love, and have gone before you. Your talents will be missed by us all here.

Ingrid and I met in the first week at Medical school in Dublin, when over coffee and Millionaires shortbread (her favorite at the time), she quizzed me on what it was like to live in Apartheid South Africa. I had never met anyone like her before. We became the best of friends
We shared a flat together in Ranelagh for 2 years in the 80's, and grew up and learned about life together... through broken hearts, great laughs, endless cups of coffee and many slabs of Cadbury chocolate. A medical student of many talents, she sewed her own clothes, and taught herself to play the guitar.
As well as her joie de vive , Ingrid had a keen intelligence and a huge heart. She was devoted to her family. She was especially close to her father who was a single dad. A lovely man...he was immensely proud of her. Ingrid in turn was fiercely protective of Rosemary and David.
I look back with fond memories to our time together - singing along at a Chris de Burgh concert, hitch hiking all the way to Monaghan, reading novels when we should have been studying and our long chats late at night.
The last time I saw her was when she and Ross visited South Africa many years ago. Over the years in her infrequent but lengthy letters, her devotion to her family was obvious. She shared photographs and wrote very proudly of Tadgh, Chiannait and Fionn
My heartfelt condolences go to her children, Ross and Rosemary. May they have the strength to bear this loss
Go well, dearest friend. You will be missed

What a loss to society! We have known Ingrid for more than 2 years providing grazing for some of the Irish ponies. What a lovely, energetic, friendly, strong person and character that could pick up a wooden gate by her own! She was so inspirational and showed so much love to the horses. We will miss her cheerfulness and energy! May her memory live on for her family and friends! Etienne & Malinda Shamley Westhead Rd, Pollok

Much love and condolences to Ingrid's family and friends at this difficult time. I was in medical school in Trinity with Ingrid and we recently celebrated our 30th reunion -not only did Ingrid travel all the way from New Zealand for the reunion ,but she did it on the back of a 6 week cycling trip around France. 6 weeks! Some of her contemporaries wouldn't last 6 minutes on a bicycle! But that was typical of Ingrid -her enthusiasm and her zest for life were a force to be reckoned with. She was in flying form at the reunion, full of stories of family and work. She was so proud of all of you ,and so passionate about her beloved Connemara ponies, and of course the dogs! We sat up late into the night chatting and reminiscing ,and planning the next reunion. I can't believe that she won't be there. I'm so,so sorry that she has been taken away from you all much too soon but she will be remembered with much love by her college friends in Ireland and all over the world.

My lovely sister in law was an amazing personality and still is an amazing personality, even though she has passed away. The legacy she leaves to all young people especially, is immense. That you can live your life with fun & laughter but still always have time for those who are struggling. I can remember many times where Ingrid was the life of the party. Back when we had only know her for a short time and we had a family evening, Ingrid sang Danny Boy and played the guitar. It was very beautiful. There were many family dos over the years and Ingrids story telling was often prominent. She was always the noisiest person talking the blarney.
Such a special day Boxing Day last, where she spent a lot of time ferrying the young kids, one by one, in the little digger. She always knew the fun things but then singled out others to say nice supportive things.
We will miss her very much. Her passing has left a great gap in our family.
I am so sad for my brother Ross and for Tadhg , Ciannait & Fionn. And for Rosie.
My love to you all, Heath xxxx

I met Ingrid when she was a junior doctor in Auckland Hospital. She became part of a group that used to gather at our home and she was always a delight to have around. Although we lost touch over the years I heard about her and her family regularly through a mutual friend.
Her death is a shock and I cannot but feel for her family and hope that knowing she died doing what she loved and the happy memories they will have will carry them through this difficult time. My heartfelt sympathies to Ross, Tadhg, Ciannait and Fionn and all who knew and loved her.

I didn't know Ingrid well but we shared a love of the Connemara pony and I very much enjoyed her company the few times that we met. Ingrid was a larger than life, passionate, slightly mad (but only in the best way) effervescent character and I am just so terribly sad for her family and friends who have lost her. RIP Ingrid, thank goodness that there are ponies in heaven ...
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Ingrid had a powerful personality and a sense of fun that made her a much loved and appreciated member of our medical year at TCD. We shared a Cavan/ Monaghan connection as well and I so enjoyed catching up with her at our recent reunion - her enthusiasm for the whole event was infectious and I was impressed by how much she had experienced and achieved since the day we tossed those mortar boards into the air from the steps at Trinity. She also spoke of how very much she loved her life and family and how proud she was of her children. I was fortunate enough to see some of her photos which she was delighted to show and I hope very many memories of happy moments and events bring you some comfort at this unbelievably sad time. My deepest sympathy to you all.

I am so sad to hear of Ingrid's untimely death. I treasured her friendship in Trinity Med School and have kept her eloquent letters where she speaks lovingly of you Ross and your three children. She admitted being notoriously poor at returning communication by email and that she was! She did, however, write of the value of old friends. We may not have been in constant contact but I hope she knew I cherished her friendship. May she rest in peace.

It's with great sadness I hear of Ingrid's passing. I met her on day 1 of medical school in 1982, and her infectious personality really created a feeling of togetherness for the whole class. She was always so cheerful and optimistic, a wonderful trait for everyone to get through the long days of college. It was great to have met her again at the August 2018 30-year class reunion. A wonderful classmate, I will always miss her infectious laughs, and no-nonsense attitude to all things in life! RIP Ingrid.

Ingrid was my chemistry partner in Med school and was such fun, I believe we became very good friends although lost contact when we qualified. I found her again via the internet thru a Connemara pony thread and was delighted to see her again in September. In many ways it made the reunion very special to see her again. I am so sad to hear the tragic news of her death and hope you get some peace over the coming times

de[nbsp]HOEDT, Ingrid Louise. Passed away unexpectedly on 1 January 2019, doing what she loved to do. Dearly loved daughter-in-law of Joan, treasured sister-in-law to Anne, Heather, Michelle and the late Scott, fun-loving Auntie to all her nieces and nephews. A larger-than-life character, a one-off, she was loved so much.
