My sympathy to Colleen and family for their loss.
Ian was a founding member of the NZ Manipulative Therapists Association and became a tutor in the art and practice of manipulative technique in New Zealand and abroad. His contribution to the International Federation of Orthopedic Manipulative Therapists firstly as a delegate then as Secretary is immeasurable particularly his pursuit of cooperation and harmony between member organisations. I well remember his “back room” negotiations starting in the Canary Islands in the early 1970s and his continued dedication over many years to achieve this. No doubt his sense of fun helped in tight situations. Ian was a trusted friend and colleague who I greatly admired.
Rest well my friend.

Dear Searle Family
Ian's hands were the best ever observed and encountered, this includes international colleagues. Ian's skills and healing were transmitted through his palms in a manner unsurpassed. It is no wonder he was at the forefront of manipulative physiotherapy.
