Such a great social commentator. He was abel to make us look at ourselves and question norms. His work was so vivid wonderful colours and form. back in the early nineties I remember him staying at Ross Wisemans house in Henderson Valley a place where he had spent a lot of time as a young man painting beautiful landscapes of the Waitakere Ranges. He spent about a week there just walking in the bush, sitting out the front of the house in the summer evening light painting water colours in a very relaxed way. His father and my father both worked together in Henderson Valley at the Master Cut Butcher Shop in the 1970's So glad to have meet and talked with Ian on a few occasions over the years. A sad loss, but we have his work to reflect in forever

An important leading New Zealand artist has been sadly lost. Ian Scott's passion, commitment and enduring focus has left us a legacy of outstanding work. He never waivered from his total emersion as a visionary artist from the time of his graduation until his untimely death.
We have been honoured to know and love Ian and dear Nan over the years. Ian is sorely missed.
