Ian PARKES Obituary

PARKES, Ian Sydney. Died peacefully at Hawkes Bay Hospital on Friday 27 September 2024, aged 95 with family present and the sun on his face. Beloved and devoted husband to Mary (deceased, nee Mclean) and the late Gwen (nee Hill). Father of Peter, Murray and Kim ('The Boys') and their respective partners Lyn, Marjorie and Jude. Grandfather to Fiona, David, Thomas, Samantha, Nicola, Elissa and Kerrin and their partners and Peter's extended family members. Great grandfather to 7 children and half-brother to Jeff Parkes and the late Gaye Parkes. A celebration of Ian's life will be held at Stonehaven, 10 Peel Street, Waipukurau on 2 November 2024 at 2.30pm. Ian has already been cremated. Ian's family would like to thank, with heartful appreciation, the carers that enabled him to live in his home until the last few weeks of his life. Special mention to Brenda and the devoted team of Access Health Care providers and to his vigilant neighbours. Particular gratitude to Dr Andy Daun, the assistance of numerous retailers along his scooter route in Waipukurau, and the medical staff at Hawkes Bay Hospital.
