Ian MURRAY Obituary

MURRAY, Ian Roderick. 73, Auckland, passed away after a years struggle with cancer, at Auckland Hospital on Sunday, 2nd October 2016. He was surrounded by his four children and loving wife. Ian was born in Lower Hutt, on 2nd July 1943 to Betty (Anstis) and James Murray. He was an only child, who went to Wellington College and then attended Auckland University to study Civil Engineering. He had a lengthy career in this field both in New Zealand and abroad working with the Ministry of Works, McConnell Dowell, and owning Robt Stone, Haden and Custance and JLE. He is survived by his wife Emma, and his four children Simon, Sarah, Stephanie and Stuart and his five grandchildren, James, Lucas, Max, Jackson and Charlotte. A service to celebrate Ian's life will be held at the All Saints Chapel, Purewa Crematorium, 100 St Johns Road, Meadowbank on Friday 7th October at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Auckland Cancer Society or Mercy Hospice Auckland.

Am very sorry for the families loss. I remember Ian as a genuine and noble man. And when visiting Haden and custance he always made time to greet everybody even if it was for a short moment. All I can say to the family is remember Ian for the amazing man he was and be strong together. Lots of love ,
