A couple of months back we were getting worried as you stopped coming in then one day in early June I saw you get off the bus in Grey Lyn on my way to the physio (that was me tooting my horn and yelling out to you) That made my day seeing you knowing you were still here...
We always looked forward to having you in dine in for lunch. Starting off with once a week visits then we'd get lucky and see you 2-3 times in one week! Will miss our chats about your bus trips out to Pukekohe and we'll never know if they got that heat pump installed that you never wanted.
Definitely a regular who's absence is felt. Rest Easy Ian.

When I first came to Auckland in 1998 I was often crying and he used to come up to me and just stand in front of me.. When I talked to him over the years in Parnell.. and then had a daughter he used to sometimes walk with me down the street. He never said very much but when I handed him some Phoenix Guava juice at the time working there he was really polite.. always remember his long heavy dreads.. hope he´s in peace

Ian....Last time I saw you was at your brother Bobs funeral. You were a true family person and very close to your mum and dad when they were alive. Now you can go and be happy once again and join your mum and dad and Bob in heaven. Your sister will miss your weekly phone calls. May you rest in peace.

RIP Ian One Dread, although I never got the chance to say hi, I would often see you doing your thing around Auckland over the many decades with your trusty bag over your shoulder. The most recent time was at Henderson Train Station during summer 2023. Another one of Auckland's quiet icons from the bygone era has left the building. May you rest in everlasting peace sir
