Ian McPHERSON Obituary

Dear Rosemary and family,I and some of the New Zealand Red Cross overseas delegates who knew Ian were deeply saddened to learn that Ian has passed away.
We remember him so very fondly as a very fine man with a great depth of fairness and understanding.
And hope his contribution to New Zealand Red Cross work internationally is known and recognised.
This included working with the Vietnamese refugees in Pulau Bidong in Malaysia,working as an anaesthetist in Peshawar Pakistan in a surgical hospital treating Afghani war wounded civilians and combatants.And working in Thailand on the border in charge of the medical activities for the Cambodian refugees In each of theses missions we appreciated his skills very much.
Delegates who have asked me to pass on their deepest sympathies include,Phillipa Parker,Hilary Patton(Harper),Christine Ives,Wendy McKenzie,Jennifer McMahon,Jerry Talbot,Sue Calvo,Magaret Bryson to name a few.
My deepest sympathy to you Rosemary and your family.I smile with fondness when I think of the time when Bill Sugrue(Surgeon) ,Ian and myself worked together as a New Zealand Red Cross Surgical team for 6 months in Peshawar Pakistan.

My thoughts are with Rosemary and the family at this terribly sad time. He was a special person and did much to make this world better a better place. Although my contact with Ian through work was limited, he never forgot a face and always said hello and talked.

saddest to hear Ian McPherson's passing. We, ex Deaf students of Melville Intermediate School through his wife - Rosemary. My mother, Joan and I will and always remember Ian as a good natured person/worker through Healthcare companies and his works with Humanities organisation e.g. Red Cross. Our thoughts and prayer go to Rosemary and extended family......
