Ian MARSHALL Obituary

MARSHALL, Ian (Thomas Ian). Passed away Sunday 24th March 2024 aged 79. The love of Cathy's life - Ian's wife. Dad of Jane and Peter and Father-in-law of Paul and Dominique (UK). Adored big brother of Norman, Jean, Hannah and Susan (UK). Brother in law of Linda and Ray (UK). Cherished uncle to his nephews and nieces (UK). Ian is now wrapped in the arms of his Mum, and his sister Jean. Brother-in-law of Lorraine and Malcolm (Australia) and uncle of Glen. A loved friend of the University of Auckland Speech Science Department, the Gavel Club and the Celebration Choir. Our special thanks to the team at Hayman who loved Ian too. A passionate cyclist for his entire life, his strength and endurance never left him. Ian will now, and forever, be cycling to his heart's content. Ride in peace. It became Ian's mission in life to raise the awareness of Aphasia, and to support those with Aphasia, in any way he could - which he certainly did for nearly 30 years. Donations to the Gavel Club c/- University of Auckland would continue Ian's mission. A Private Cremation has been held. A celebration of Ian's amazing life will be held at the DoubleTree Hilton, 8 Hinau Road, Karaka on Saturday 20th April 2024 at 11am.
