Ian MACKERSEY Obituary

MACKERSEY, Ian Born 14-10-1925. Passed away on 28-04-2015. Ian Mackersey, much loved husband of the late Caroline Mackersey and beloved father of David, Paula and Kiri, sadly passed away after a very brief illness at Auckland Hospital on 28th April 2015. Ian was also an internationally respected biographer and documentary filmmaker, and will be greatly missed.

After discovering No Empty Chairs, I was looking forward to contacting Mr. Mackersey and sharing about my father who was a WWI ace who survived. I have the idea to reach out to do this less than a month after Mr. Mackersey's passing so have no opportunity to relay to him my gratitude for his writing, his passion for aviation and his research. I am sure he received enough accolades while alive to float the Queen Mary, but still, I have a sense of loss.
