Ian LEDGER Obituary

LEDGER, Ian. Peacefully promoted to heaven, with Mum by his side, on the morning of September 15, 2021 at Elizabeth Knox Home and Hospital. Loved son of the late Robert Lindsay and Barbara Mary Ledger, son in law to the late Magele and Ella Tuigamala, brother to Ann Green and Hugh. Beloved husband to Koti, cherished Dad to Lindsay and Tania, Leilani, Seipua and Mataio, wonderful Pops to Maya, Jackson, Mason, Mila and Midas. We are comforted that Dad is at peace, and no longer in any pain. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. His faith was steadfast so he is absolutely rejoicing with his maker. A thank you to all the medical teams and carers who looked after Dad, in particular EKHH and Selwyn Heights staff who took wonderful care of him until his promotion. Dad's life celebration service will be live-streamed on Thursday 23 September from 9.30am at Tipene Funerals, contact Leilani for details ([email protected]) Thank you Lord for Dad's life!

But I remember Ian ledger from kelburn scouts. He was a good young man an I learnt that he'd gone into building.

Dear Family of Ian,

Please know that Ian's classmates of Wellington's Kelburn Normal School class of 1958 (our senior year) are deeply saddened to learn of Ian's illness and death, but comforted to read how much he was loved by his family and well looked after by his carers also.

A few years ago there was a reunion of the Auckland members of our class, and I, as contact list keeper, was happy to be able to come up from Wellington to be with this group, which included Ian. We had a most congenial lunch at classmate Averill's home and enjoyed catching up with each-other's lives.

There I was able to tell Ian that I had bought the house in Ngaio Road Kelburn where he had completed a short job for the then owner which involved concreting a series of steps up through the steep property. A nice little coincidence.

In advance of our first class reunion in February/March 2015, we had done some of this catching up by means of a biography booklet to which class members contributed accounts of their lives since leaving Kelburn School.

I will not send photos here but if any family member would like any old school photos or a couple of photos from the Auckland reunion I can be contacted at [email protected]

Our sympathy and best thoughts to you all as we know you will be missing Ian very much.

On behalf of the 'class of '58',
yours sincerely,
Margaret Gordon
