FERGUSON, Ian Graeme. 1942-2025. On Thursday 23 January 2025, Clare lost her beloved husband and soulmate of 56 years. Ian had been on long-term hemodialysis and a sudden acute illness, proved fatal. Son of the late Roderick and Joyce Ferguson. Brother of Stuart and the late Duncan Ferguson, Brother-in-law of Diana Ferguson, Alison and Peter Holst, Patricia and the late David Galloway. Uncle, great uncle, great grand uncle to their families. Loved cousin of Jane McCartney and Mark. Treasured uncle of Kirsten, Simon and Sam Holst, who supported him to the end. Godfather of Louise, Alistair Chater's daughter. Kiwis always, Ian and Clare, returning to Nelson last year after 50 years in London. Known for his sharp wit and sometimes wicked conversation, Ian had a passion for all politics, news and arts. He loved the land, sea and sailing. He is greatly missed by his friends and family, in NZ and overseas. We are grateful to the dialysis units in Nelson and London, the caring of staff at Coastal View, and the support of Nelson Tasman Hospice, especially Sarah. A private cremation has been held. Details of a nautical memorial celebration, to be held in several weeks will follow. If you intend to participate, please send contact details, to Clare and family via Shone and Shirley Funeral Directors, 164 Tahunanui Drive, Tahunanui 7011 or email
