Ian Desmond ELLIOT

Ian ELLIOT Obituary

Elliott, Ian Desmond (Dr). Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, after a long illness, aged 85 years. Treasured husband of Dianne. Loving father of Guy, Katrina, Benjamin and Jason. Dedicated ophthalmologist. We are grateful for a lifetime of wonderful memories. A service will be held at St Paul's Presbyterian Church, Oneroa, Waiheke Island on Thursday, 24 July at 2.30pm.

Dear Dianne and family- my sincere sympathy on the passing of Ian. He was an amazing teacher and colleague- so generous with his time and patient and kind in his teaching of those of us with substantially lesser intellects than his. My deepest condolences to you, Dianne, and all your family! Although I never had the privilege to work directly with Ian, he was always kind and wonderful whenever I met him at Manukau Superclinic and always happy to help with any patient queries! He will be greatly missed by many in the Ophthalmology department!

Ian was one of the cleverest people I've ever know. He was also one of the nicest. He had a huge influence on my life as he inspired me to follow a career in strabismus and paediatric ophthalmology, a field I have loved. He was a wonderful mentor and a lovely person. The world is a poorer place without him.
