Eric was very sad to hear of Ian´s passing. My mum Mary was also very fond of Ian and Flora and enjoyed spending time together with them and the rest of the family. God Bless and may he rest in peace.

It hurts to hear of the passing of Iain, my friend, workmate, football colleague and memory maker. I want to celebrate those memories, and the fun times through my sadness. He lived a full and rewarding life with his lovely wife Flora and always had a sparkle in his eyes when we met. The condolences of my wife and go to all his family, many of whom I have known for years. May he rest in peace.

I will remember my cousin Iain as a very kind, loving and gentle human being. A great sense of humour even though he followed his favourite Celtic football team. He loved all his family as they loved him.Iain to me was very special man and will be missed but now with his heavenly family. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the Gillies.

We were very sad to learn of the passing of Iain Gillies who was a much admired and respected man in our family, the Arthur Family of Wainui Road and throughout the wider soccer community. Bert Arthur was Secretary of Eastern Union Soccer Club and three members of the family Dudley, John and Wendy served their apprenticeships as
reporters on the Gisborne Herald under Iain's watch. Iain will long be remembered for his humour, his integrity, his leadership at the Herald and his commitment to playing and coaching the 'beautiful game'. Sincere condolences to Flora and the
Gillies family.
