Hilda SIMPSON Obituary

SIMPSON, Hilda Rose Walker (nee Gardner). On 8th November 2016, peacefully at Waitakere Hospital, Auckland aged almost 100. Loved wife of the late John "Jack" Walker and the late Robert "Bob" Simpson RNZN. Dearly loved Aunt of Debbie Batchen and Philip McDaid, Heather McKenzie and James, John and Joan Triggs, and extended family in England. A celebration of her life will be held in the Garden Chapel of the Morrison Funeral Home, 220 Universal Drive, Henderson on Saturday 12th November 2016 at 2:00 pm. Family flowers only but donations in her name to St Johns Ambulance, Private Bag 14902 Panmure, Auckland would be appreciated.

We always knew you as Aunty Hilda, even if you were Debs and not ours, it felt like you belonged to lots of us. You were a fine example of a gracious lady gritted with determination and a sense of fun. We will miss you, God Bless Mags & family

In loving memory of my dear Great Aunty Hilda, the last of her generation. Coming from humble beginnings in Rotherhithe South East London, an area we all knew well, from a family of lightermen (those who worked on the river)
I will remember her as I remember her sisters, (one being my grandmother) gently spoken very polite and loving. God speed Aunty xx
