Hilary BOYD Obituary

BOYD, Hilary. Passed away peacefully at Harbour Hospice, North Shore, aged 53. Dearly loved wife of Shaun. Much loved daughter of Veronica and the late Gordon, niece of Marje, sister of the late Linda, and aunt of the late Henry. Loved sister-in-law of Darren, Leith and Eileen, aunt of Ellie, Grace, Niamh and Reon, daughter-in-law of Roger and Diane. A remembrance and celebration of Hilary's life to be held at Wakatere Boating Club at Narrow Neck Beach on Thursday 23 January at 10:30 am followed by refreshments. Please wear bright colours. A sad loss, far too soon. She'll be remembered as a fine woman. Helen's and and my condolences to you, Shaun, and to the whole family.

It is Hilary's deadpan mischief I remember like the time we Rogues were all at Diamond Harbour together on retreat and she suddenly spotted a sneaky cross-country shortcut that we could take. She grabbed my arm, whispered slow down. We drifted to the back and let the other Rogues pass by, then darted into the paddock and hurried away cross-country to arrive first and let you all think we had arrived long ago. She was totally undaunted by obstacles like rough country, barbed-wire fences etc.
I struggled to keep a straight face when confronted with the amazed confusion of the Rogues, How did you two get here ahead of us? but Hilary was cool as a cucumber and just slightly derisive of their comparative slowness.
Deadpan mischief, as I said.
