Helena Thomas Obituary

Helena entered into eternal rest on On Saturday, July 2, 2011. Funeral services will be held here at the Briscoe-Tonic Funeral Home on Saturday, July 9, 2011.

Angel was born on August 13, 1982 to Sharon Collins and Ronald Thomas in Washington, DC. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother Ronald, nicknamed “Untz, his fantastically beautiful smile was the only one that could rival Angel’s smile. She leaves behind her parents, Sharon Barnette, and Ronald Thomas, her sisters Sharise, Tonya, and Jackie, and her brothers Ronald, Michael, and Eric. Angel also leaves behind maternal grand-parents Helen and Willie R. Collins, and a host of uncles and aunts including, Earley, Willie, and Steven, Grace, Debbie, Robin, and Gloria, and all of their children.

Angel was born with severe cerebral palsy and seizure disorder after a traumatic birth which left both her and her mother with an after-life and a near-death experience. Angel’s family believes that such experience graced Angel with a wisdom that did not need the words that she could not speak.

Although Angel suffered much pain through-out her life, her smile was ready always, for those who came to her with an open heart, and even those who came to her with a blackened heart because she knew no fear. She touched everyone and made them calm. And in her stillness one could be still and know God.

In Remembrance of Angel; for Those Who Have Not Known or Met Angel. It has been said that the eyes are the window of the soul. It has also been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Angel’s soul was full of love and kindness, when you looked into her eyes you truly saw her soul and when Angel looked into your eyes she in turn saw your soul! You could just feel her energy, wisdom and intellect, but when Angel smiled at you it was like a thousand candles lighting up a dark room and you felt love from this child. Angel’s canvas was her face and she could talk to you just by her eyes and smile. She truly gave love and received love and she left us with a legacy of love, kindness, joy and humility. She has left that broken vessel and is now free to light up the universe and the heavens with that smile, that energy, that love…

Angel was born loving Michael Jackson and she passed on loving Michael Jackson and so we pay tribute to his gift of song to our lovely Angel.
