Helen LILEY Obituary

Liley, Dr. Helen Margaret Irwin (Nee Hunt). Margaret passed away peacefully on Monday 6 October 2025 at Ryman Logan Campbell Retirement Village, aged 97. As (another) accomplished alumna of Te Kuiti Primary School and ultimately the University of Otago Medical School, Margaret became a doctor, educator, farmer and author. She was the loving wife of the late Sir William Liley and mother to Bill, Helen, Ben, Janet, Rosalind and Stephanie and their partners. Margaret was granny to Frances, Martha, Tim, Martin, Tara, Elroy, Gene, James, Helen, Sarah, Jack, Saxon, Zenta and Akina. Great-grandchildren are Jane, Rita, Leo, Braxton, Hudson, Matthew and Toni. A service will be held at the Maclaurin Chapel, Auckland University, 18 Princes Street, Auckland on Saturday 11 October at 10am. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the University of Auckland Alumni Association Scholarships Fund would be appreciated.
