Guy SPEEDY Obituary

SPEEDY, Guy James Weston (Speed). Born 29 September 1931. Died peacefully in the sunroom at home on the farm, on 17 November 2024; aged 93 years. Cherished husband and "My Guy" to the late Bev for over 68 years. Adored Dad and caring Father-in-law of Dale and Rhonda Speedy (Ngatea), Mary and the late Mike Speedy (Ngatea), Sharon and the late Richard Laurenson (Whangamata). Cheeky, fun and admired Poppa Guy of Rebecca, Sam, Caitlin, Emily, Stephanie, Brad, Nick, Theresa, Georgina, Sarah and their partners. Loved Great Poppa of Lachlan, Elijah, Harper and Malaya. True and Trusted friend to many. A service to celebrate Guy's long life will be held at Hauraki Plains Co-operating Parish Church, 3 Darlington Street, Ngatea on Friday 22nd November at 11am, followed by interment at Totara Memorial Park Cemetery. One of life's characters to be celebrated.

I remember as always being there , a long term 'Swamp Fox ' Guys father Frank arrived on the Plains on the same day as my father 1922 I have some great photos of Guy as a page boy at the Queen Carnival held in 1952/53 to raise funds for the new Hall Jack Laurich Guy Speedy Jack Harrison [Post Master ] Our Father was the Lord High Chancellor Doreen Shelly { Dalgety] was the Carnival Queen Given that I was only about 6 the photos are my reminder , By the laughter and fun I suspect a bottle or two of whiskey was present RIP Guy Hugh Dent
