We are sad but appreciate that Grahame is now truly at peace. All our memories are of a kind, clever and very successful man who we admired and respected deeply.
Grahame was a genuine entrepreneur and achieved remarkable things with precision engineering from a young age - without a business school degree or fancy MBA. We can still recall some of his entertaining anecdotes that revealed much wisdom and provided practical tips for anyone building and growing a business.
We think of him when we hear the term "Kiwi ingenuity". His intelligence and hard work also took him travelling for business to places that few Kiwis went to back in the 1970s and 80s. It was always exciting when he returned with many new and wondrous things that were generously shared and enjoyed ...always the latest toys from America, and technology that back then wasn´t available in NZ, sometimes for several years.
Grahame was also an early adopter and was the first to buy the latest technology. Memorably, the Powers had the first colour TV in the neighbourhood, and it was the deluxe model. We recall being at the Powers a lot after school. That big colour TV was enjoyed by many kids, for a long time.
His was a life lived to its fullest and he shared his success. We always looked up to him and appreciated his generosity and kindness. Grahame was a good man who made a positive difference in our lives, and we will always remember him fondly.
