Just knew the sad news. He was a good man and helped me greatly in the worst time of my life. You will be missed by my family!

Very sad to hear, Gordon was a great teacher and person. He will be missed.

Shocked and saddened about Gordon's passing. He was a fantastic mentor who always kept his sense of humour, and taught me so much during my time at Otago Hospital. He was also an excellent dancer at events! You shall be missed, Gordon.

Shocked to hear about Gordon passing, have great memories of fishing trips to Lake mahingerangi when working in Dunedin. Top Man/gentleman/professional.

Still in a state of disbelief over Gordon's passing, our hearts are heavy. He was one of the best humans we had ever known and we are so sorry that his time was cut short. Gordon gave new meaning to the notion of "a life well lived" and his love and good work will be felt by so many, for so long.

We extend condolences to his family as we especially wrap our arms around Suzanne as she navigates the days ahead.

A tragic loss for everyone in the eye fraternity. Farewell Gordon... I remember your great sense of humour, humble and unflustered teaching style, supportive nature, and public speaking prowess! It was a privilege and I will always treasure having worked with you.

I worked with Gordon for 15 years in the eighties. I knew him well as a consummate professional and a great fun guy socially. I include a favorite photo of him at a wild department fancy dress party around 1982. He was a very kind person and I am so shocked.

A wonderful friend for many years. Very sad, you will be missed by many.
