To Heather, Olivia and Annabel

I will not get over the shock of Gordon's sad and sudden passing for a very long time, and Michelle and I are so sorry we were not able to be at his funeral. Any words I write here will be inadequate but suffice to say it is a measure of the esteem in which I held him that I was prepared to make him the trustee of my family affairs, not a position I would favour many others with. I loved his quirky humour and respected the way in which he conducted himself in the community and the manner in which he carried out his familial responsibilities. We had such great times together and I shall never forget. Please draw comfort from the knowledge he was so well regarded and that I am here for you all, and always will be. Love Rob. Taupo.

I met Gordon only a couple of times, but as others say, he was courteous, friendly, kind...

My condolences to the family that he leaves behind.

I worked with Gordon Hay on and off a number of years ago now but he struck me as a good man, honourable, trust worthy and very likable. Maybe the powers above needed him for a higher purpose. My condolences to the family, though you have lost a good soul on earth you have gained an Angel in heaven. Serge Ritossa.
