Gerald and family showed me unbounded hospitality during my residence in Auckland. I'll always greatly appreciate.

Gerald you are fondly remembered as a great supporter at Grammar Rugby, always present on the sideline and offering great encouragement to all and a great family man.
I am truly indebted to you for you encouragement and generosity. My condolences to Agi and family, rest in peace Gerald.

Dear Agi. Deepest sympathy to you and yours in the loss of your Gerald. He was a great character and a friend to many. We enjoyed the conversations we had with him over the years, which on reflection, seem to have passed in a moment. Our love to you all in his memory - Angela and Rex Brown.

What a tremendous loss. Gerald Sr. was quite simply an amazing person -- a great intellect and thinker, kind, funny and so generous. He made those around him feel that they mattered. Sending condolences to the extended Ryan family.

I first met Gerald Ryan Snr through his son Gerald Jnr who was a friend of mine at Auckland University. I recall visiting the family home on a few occasions and always feeling welcomed. When I graduated from Law School in 1998, Gerald Snr very kindly offered to be my Moving Counsel for my admission to the High Court. It was such a perfect day, and I could not have wished for any better person for my Moving Counsel. I have a photo of Gerald Snr, myself, and Ranganui Walker who was also at the Auckland High Court that morning.
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Gerald Ryan Snr, he was truly a wonderful person who touched the lives of many people, including my own.
My deepest sympathies go to you all at this terribly difficult time.

I embrace the memory of Gerald and the care given to myself and my family. The story goes way back, and includes help in the business, where Gerald was our accountant for many years. Now and then a phone call would come offering support if media could come up with anything negative about the shop, and regular were the season's greetings by phone. Lavender fields of contentment await in that realm I have heard of, though invisible to me, and I am sure that a talked of council of guides will be saying great things to Gerald about his life.
