Gerald FREEMAN Obituary
Freeman, Gerald Joseph (Gerry). Passed away peacefully on the 30th of July 2025 one month shy of his 91st birthday at Lady Allum care suite. A much-loved husband to Sonia, and beloved father to Michael, Sue and Peter, treasured father-in law to Julie, David and Jelena, and very proud grandfather and great grandfather to his growing family who all loved him greatly. We will remember his generosity of spirit, warm heart, loving smile and compassion for people... just a lovely gentleman with the kindest heart. Thank you to all of the staff at Lady Allum and North Shore Hospital for the love and care shown to us all throughout his end-of-life care. A private family cremation will be held, and a celebration of Gerald's life - "Happy Party" for family and friends will follow on the 28th August - time and place to be advised. Hello. I remember Gerry when he worked as 2nd Shop man at Hellabys Meats, Quay Street, Auckland. The two managers were Bob Gilmour and Bob McGhie. I was an apprentice there and worked there from 1965 until I left and joined the police in January, 1970. Gerry was a great guy to work with. I am so sorry that I hadn´t had the chance to see him since those days. I remember meeting Sonia at workmate Graham Brough's 21st birthday celebration when she attended with Gerry in about 1968. RIP Gerry - you were one of the best.
