To Georges family
My heartfelt condolences on Georges passing. I still retain many happy memories of the tour arranged by George from Hong Kong to New Zealand to watch the British & Irish Lions - more years ago than I care to remember. We had a great time, taking in 2 Test matches and a provincial game against Georges beloved Waikato.
Rest in peace, George.

We are the Pilgrims, master; we shall go
Always a little further; it may be
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow
Across that angry or that glimmering sea,

White on a throne or guarded in a cave
There lies a prophet who can understand
Why men were born: but surely we are brave,
Who take the Golden Road to Samarkand.

James Elroy Flecker

George is our master and we are his pilgrims
The journey continues
As it should be.

Thankyou for believing in me . Thankyou for making a normal kid feel special. Thankyou George Levu .
Your Always

Dear Pippa and family,
My deepest condolences for your loss. George will be remembered as a wonderful lawn bowls player whose presence on the green was always a great experience due to his endearing wit and sense of humour which sometimes went straight over the heads of the local players. A good man and will be missed

Dear Pip and Family,
I was saddened to learn of George's recent passing.
He brought a very positive contribution to HK and Asian rugby.
I have fond memories of showing him some of Dublin when we both travelled to Ireland, staying with my sister, and enjoyed watching the All Blacks play on their 1989 Tour (Ireland 6 - New Zealand 23).
Sincere condolences.

My thoughts and love to you Pip, Leigh, Greer, and kids . I'll share a story of George from my childhood. When I was a little girl, I remember being so proud that George was my Godfather. He had such a warm & kind nature, and he always encouraged me to be curious and to not give up. I noticed his integrity long before I even knew what integrity was. As I got older I also appreciated what an inspirational role model he was to so many. Now I have a passion for mentoring just like he did & I'm proud to say inspired by George. Rest in Peace George, one of my top people in life . I'll love you & miss you always. I hope you're up top, pain free, sharing a drink with Dad xoxo ❤

Waikato Rugby will be forever thankful for Georges years as provincial coach 1976-1984. Getting Waikato out of 2nd division and winning Ranfurly Shield in same year due to his innovative coaching skills.
Got to know George a bit in recent years through outdoor bowls in Matamata. Enjoyed listening to his stories/experiences immensely. RIP.

RIP George & thank you for all the memories from sweating at all those HK training sessions in the humid heat to camaraderie on tours and tournaments (especially USA 1992 and Asian tournament in Seoul). You're dry humour was legendary.

Hi Pip. Many years ago George gave me a huge break entrusting me to be the Physio for his beloved HK rugby team. He taught me a lot about how teams operate .... and needless to say his wicked sense of humor was always a highlight. He had an amazing life and we were all better for spending part of our lives with George. Take care Pip.

So sad to hear of the passing of George he was one of the true heroes of rugby, a real thinker & innovator of the game especially when it came to rugby sevens. He became a good friend during our mutual time in China working with Chinese Rugby. I was so pleased to have the chance to catch up and spend my last time with him over the weekend of the Biarritz 7s last year with his lovely wife Pip. It's just how I would like to remember him, sitting in the sun, enjoying a 7s tournament, the Kiwis winning and chewing the fat on all things rugby. George you will be sadly missed! RIP

Dear Pip, Leigh and Greer & Families
I have just read with much sadness of George's passing. What a truly inspirational man whom I have such happy memories of as we grew up across from you all in Elizabeth Street, probably the fondest of George was me having to tow him along the Matamata College running track as part of his training regime for his athletics team! A hard taskmaster who achieved top results. Love to you all from Karen Boyles (new Bates)

George was our pioneer coach on Chinese rugby since 1987. I was so proud led by him to Shanghoi to coach PLA. As coach as our father, we were glad to form a team to Manila play a game for 30 years. He will be missed & we always with you Pip.
