George ROBINSON Obituary

ROBINSON, George Edward. Born 12 May 1935 in Guernsey, Channel Islands and emigrated on SS Cptn Hobson to New Zealand in 1956. George passed away peacefully on 19 July, surrounded by loved ones. George is survived by his loving wife Ingrid (Michelle) and children Hayley and Curt and their partners Ashley and Manuela. He was a much adored grandfather affectionately known as Neddy for Nico, Niamh and Ciara and Pirate Brandy Billy for Oscar. George was also a devoted uncle to Nichole and her family. He was a generous man, full of stories to share and a shark on the golf course. A service to celebrate George's life will be held at Titirangi Golf Club on Monday 21 July at 1:30pm.

Bruce Hudson (President Waitemata Table Tennis)

Born in Guernsey, Channel Islands and emigrated to New Zealand in 1956, George Robinson helped establish what was to become the Waitemata Table Tennis Association in the 1960s.

Graham was Waitemata Open Doubles Champion with BJ Kennerley 1966, then Open Men's Singles Champion: 1968, 1969, 1970, 1973. He also won the 1977 Combined Doubles with J Moyle, and was 1979 Over 40s singles champion in, beating R Gregory.

In 1972 Graham was Waitemata Table Tennis veteran's champion, beating Harry Dye in the final. The are too many results to mention them all. He captained many WTTA representative teams in the 1970s. Served on the executive committee in the late 1970s also helping to build our first stadium which opened around 1978.

Graham was elected as a Life Member of WTTA on 11 Nov 1979.
